A school who has a strong community behind it has the ability to do wonderful things therefore at the beginning of every year St Margaret’s celebrates of a community by gathering for a beach picnic. During the course of the year our community is invited to a myriad of events such as School Bush Dance, family maths evenings, community arts evening, cooperative group work activities, sacramental evenings, Level Masses, Parish Sacraments, Spirit of St Margaret’s Fun Run and the school year always culminates with St Margaret’s Christmas Carols and BBQ.
A school that reaches out to the wider community can access so much more than a school that relies only on itself.
At St Margaret’s we have strived to build relationships within our community based on justice for all, respect for diversity and openness and acknowledgement of the past. A school that has a strong community behind it has the ability to do wonderful things. A school that reaches out to the wider community can access so much more than a school that relies only on itself. Such are the goals St Margaret’s strives to achieve. From its earliest years, St Margaret’s has been blessed with the support of a caring, passionate and committed School Community. All who have come before us – the Mercy sisters, staff, students and parents have ensured that strong foundations were laid. Through their hard work, vision, commitment and generosity, St Margaret’s has a proud tradition which continues to grow and develop into the 21st Century.
The strong sense of community unites our school, and together we celebrate each other's joys and achievements and provide support and solace in times of trouble and loss. Support for the School comes from many sources in gifts of time and talent. The School is fortunate to have enthusiastic and energetic volunteers contributing through the School Advisory Board, the Parents' and Friends Committee and other parent support groups that assist in the day to day running of St. Margaret’s.
St Margaret’s School endeavours to continue the great work of those who started this tradition as we build on the story of Catholic education for the community of East Geelong.
